Video Compression Board

As part of an Oil & Gar exploratory tool string the requirement for a camera module was needed.  The module had to compress video from two camera inputs and send the data to the surface via the data line.  As bandwidth was a premium in the system a method of compression was required to transmitting the video data.

The end solution utalized an FPGA along with a video compression CODEC, the FPGA provided the interface to the cameras already used by the company and allowed interfacing to the CODEC. The solution was tested to the customers pressure and temperature specification.  

 

The compression board was also able to send and receive environmental data furthuer improving the product for the customer.
